Heritage Day 2024-25 was celebrated at Or Lady of the Rosary High School on 28th February with great enthusiasm, beginning on a joyful note with a traditional welcome at the school entrance. Students were greeted with melodious Konkani Goan songs, setting the perfect tone for the festivities. A beautifully arranged exhibition showcased various traditional artifacts, reflecting our rich cultural heritage. A special photo booth allowed students to capture memorable moments of the day.
The official program commenced with a speech by our 6th standard students, who shared insightful information about India’s historical landmarks. This was followed by a vibrant fancy dress event, where 5th and 6th standard students portrayed various occupations in colorful costumes and spoke about their significance in society. Adding to the cultural splendor, the 6th standard students performed the traditional Goan Coconut Koti dance, infusing the event with energy and vibrancy.
One of the major highlights of the day was a spectacular dance performance by students of the 7th and 8th standards, set to a mashup of multilingual songs representing different states of India. The event concluded on a melodious note with a special song, composed by an 8th standard student, which was played for everyone to enjoy.
To further enrich the celebration, an exciting quiz on Goa’s and India’s heritage was conducted for students of classes 6 and 7, which saw enthusiastic participation. Additionally, students from classes 5 to 7 took part in a poetry recitation competition, beautifully expressing their creativity and appreciation for heritage. Winners were awarded prizes as a token of recognition for their efforts.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the President Miss Bency Boyana of the Heritage Club. This year, we continue the tradition of honoring every participant with a special token of appreciation for their enthusiasm and contributions.
