The technical students of Standard 10 attended a session on Blood and Health Education conducted by Dr. Clare D’mello. The session began with Dr. D’mello explaining the benefits of blood donation, how a blood bank works, and its importance. She also spoke about the different components of blood, their shelf life, and the requirements needed to be eligible for donation. She went on to explain the ABO blood group system along with the Rh factor and even demonstrated how to determine blood groups using the slide method. To conclude, she spoke about blood pressure — what it is, what the readings mean, and demonstrated the process in practice.
